If you could rename the internet, what would you call it?

Posted on Nov 6th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 01, 2007:

I think it is pretty much already called this, but the World Wide Web because that is what it truly is, whether we use it as a bridge to cross the distance or get trapped in the web itself it is still a web.

If you had to lose your vision, what would you look at today?

Posted on Nov 6th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 02, 2007:

My daughter and color.  I would look at my daughter and try to memorize her features as I felt them with my hands trying to combine the 2.  I would look at pictures of the leaves changing and anything with a lot of color and I would read as much as possible.

How do spiritual and environmental awareness relate?

Posted on Nov 6th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 06, 2007:

They are intertwined.  When you become spiritually aware you understand that you are connected to everyone and everything either directly or because like your own children you have some responsibility to them.  When you become aware of this connection, dependence, and or responsibility you become more aware of the world you interact with.  I believe that the state of the environment is a reflection of our spiritual state. One mirrors the other.  We are obviously in a generally bad state.

Spending time outdoors with their family and friends, except in the winter.  In the winter we would spend time reading and playing boardgames or cards.

What kind of art would you place in your community?

Posted on Nov 13th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 13, 2007:

I would like to see Murals from local artists.  I would like to see cargo trains where murals (graffiti) are painted on the side expressing what is best about the cities they go through expressed by the people that live there.  I would like to create a community center where for a modest fee children and adults could take art classes including sculpture, painting, dancing, whatever!!!! I would create a space where children could explore the possibilities of expression that are denied them in school today.

Now for a short rant.  I am truly annoyed that my daughter school only has art 1 day a week and that my child can't participate because the day that they have art she is at her accelerated education program at another location.  Art is important just not for emotional health, but it has been proven to increase performance in the more testable areas such as science and mathematics.  Frustrated!

What does the word 'natural' mean to you?

Posted on Nov 13th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 07, 2007:

Natural to me means that it occurs on its own in our environment without human interference.

Food can be planted but not genetically altered and not covered in man made pesticides.  We can alter things for out use, but not to create them.  I do not have a problem encouraging grapes to ferment to create wine, but I don't want you to breed my grape with an apple to make a bigger grape?

What was your favorite childhood story?

Posted on Nov 13th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 09, 2007:

I know that most people would not consider this a childhood story, but I read this when I was in 2nd grade so for me it was.  I absolutely loved Tolkien's "The Hobbit"  it had danger, it had twists and turns and elves, kings and queens, it had an underdog who won despite all of his fumbling around.  I re-read that book at least once a year since I was 7 until I was about 21, I had the thing dang near memorized.  I read The Lord of the Rings Trilogy probably in 3rd grade and re-read those too, but "The Hobbit" was definitely my childhood favorite. I had my grandfather's original first addition and I am ashamed to say I read it so much that it fell apart, even duct tape could no longer hold it together.

What is the role of media?

Posted on Nov 14th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 14, 2007:

The role of the media should be to inform the public of things that are occurring in the world and in there local area.  It is not the role that the media currently takes, to often now the media is just another advertisement for some one's agenda or just another gossip column.  The media should serve to forewarn and uplift the public.  I honestly try not to pay attention to it anymore.  My local community (county) papers generally give me what I need.

I am disappointed in media today

What would you print on our currency?

Posted on Nov 14th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 12, 2007:

Rings and hands clasping.  I would not place a single persons visage on any of our global money.  Maybe pictures of people working because that is what it take to have money.  Oh here is an idea maybe we should list how many hours and average person has to work to recieve that denomination, so people could really see and understand what money is supposed to represent.  For instance a 10 dollar bill (calling it a dollar for my own ease of reference)  would have 1.25 hours of work written somewhere on it.  Oh yeah and how about please in every language on oneside and thank you the same way on the other?

Are you a risk-taker?

Posted on Nov 14th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 10, 2007:

Being a risk-taker really depends on the subject.  When it comes to money and my family absolutely not!.  I will not do anything that will risk the stability of my daugher's life.  I will take educated risks at work and will take personal risks that won't change my life, but while I am responsible for the safety and life of my daughter I don't feel capable of taking true risks even though I chafe at this fact at times.  I want to be a risk taker, but what I have to lose is worth to much to risk.

What gets in the way of peace?

Posted on Nov 14th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 11, 2007:

My first thought was need, but upon further reflection I find that often that is not true. I think that pride or greed gets in the way of peace.  The second that any one group or person begins to think that they are worth more than any other group or person, they begin to create this idea of entitlement.  I am entitled to have more because I am better and then it begins.  When people believe that they are equal, but different and that every one has a purpose to serve, in the capacity that they are best able then everyone is peaceful.  They are at peace with themselves because they are fulfilling their purpose and they are at peace with each other because they know the only actions they are responsible are their own.  They know that we have to work together and that differences are not always wrong sometimes they are just differences.  Discontent begins because we assign value to things, ourselves and other people.

What's the easiest way to become happy?

Posted on Nov 19th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 18, 2007:

The easiest way for me to be happy is to choose my own perspective.  I am always thankful for the gifts god has given me.  My family, my friends, my daughter, my skills, my health.  Having a spirit of thankfulness makes it very easy to be a generally happy person.

What was the last thing you made from scratch?

Posted on Nov 19th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 19, 2007:

I cook from scratch several times a week and I love it.  What I created from scratch recently is a pumpkin mousse spice cake.  I even made up my own recipe from scratch and tried it out on our veterans group at church.  This way I can be sure it tastes great for my family at Thanksgiving.  I can't ask my family what they think because even if it was nasty they would still tell me it was ok and if it was just ok they'd tell me it was great. Lol  One of the soldiers mom's begged me for the recipe.  It made me feel proud and it is always a lot of fun to make something of your own.

What is true leadership?

Posted on Nov 19th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 08, 2007:

We have very few true leaders in today's society.  A leader will do what they say and say what they do.  The inspire the best in others and serve those to whom they are responsible.  We live in a culture that denies personal responsibility which makes leadership difficult.  If you are not repsonsible for your failures why should you be recognized for your successes.  My heros of leadership are the few teachers and parents that hold the children they come in contact with responsible for their actions.  Sorry for the rant I am just sick of entitlement society!

What is your relationship to your life story?

Posted on Nov 19th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 17, 2007:

In the beginning I was just a character written in to my own life.  I walked through the passagers of my life and made turns where I was told.  I was also absolutely miserable.  Right after I had my daughter it had gotten so bad that I felt like a character in a movie, there was no emotion in my life, just a role to be played.  I was depressing to say the least, the only emotions I did feel were ones of extreme pain, I felt anger, and was happy because of it, because it was better than nothing.  Then my brother lent me this book, "I Dare You" by William H Danforth.  It changed my life because it showed me that I had a choice.  I could choose to continue on as I was or, (and this shocked me at first) I could choose something different.   I chose something different for my daughter and my self and now I am in the drivers seat or should I say in the authors seat of my life.  I know this story is going to turn out just the way it should.  Because as I have found out,  I get to choose.

Who, on the whole, do you find happier: children or adults?

Posted on Nov 19th, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 16, 2007:

For the most part children, because they haven't learned to hold on to grudges or the pain.  They fight, they make up an for the most part it is over.  Children also know how to appreciate the world around them.  They take joy in each new experience when 9 times out of 10 adults view anything out of the ordinary as a nuisance.  God bless the little children and may I please still be one!!

When was the last time you stayed up all night?

Posted on Nov 21st, 2007 by Wingsearching : Wingsearching Wingsearching
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 21, 2007:

Last night.  I don't know if this is sad or not.  I had to get up really early, but it didn't matter I was reading this stupid book and got sucked in.  I knew it was time to stop when my alarm went off to tell me to get ready to go to work.  I am awful when it comes to reading, I often come become completely involved in the story and become unaware of my physical surroundings.
