If you could 'uninvent' something, what would it be?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 21, 2007:

I would uninvent the combustion engine.  That maybe surprising, but think of it this way. Less pollution, Lower population.  Better planet.  A lot of thing lead off of the combustion engine.  I wish our world was bigger.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. What’s with our fascination with the internal combustion engine? Cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, jet-skis — there seems to be no respite from this assault of invasive noise and noxious fumes. Our planet would be better off with their obliteration (or at least a considerable reduction in numbers).
